山形と秋田との県境にある金山町は小さいけれども綺麗な町だ。

昔の街並みを保存・リニューアルして観光地としてスキルアップ中と聞く。土日には観光客で賑わうようだ。どこと似ているだろうかと考えてみたが、思いあたらない。黒と白の組み合わを基調とした家や町は落ち着いていると同時に、不思議な華やかさが感じられる。

大堰（おおぜき）と呼ばれる美しく整備された灌漑用水が山からの清水を呼び込み田畑へと敷かれている。街の中心には大堰公園が作られていて先陣の偉業をたたえつつ、人々の潤いのスペースとなっている。

ほんの一時間立ち寄っただけだが、今度はゆっくりと街を廻ってみようと思った。
